Clock Time and Experience

I once worked with a manager who positively had to leave work on time everyday.  She was volatile, prone to hysterics, constantly made mistakes, and was anxious.  She was very much aware of clock time.  Compare that with going to a good movie.  The movie may be two hours long but because you are engaged in the movie when the movie is over, it seems like only ten minutes.  Because it is a good movie, you are aware of nothing else but the movie.  In work, if we are constantly aware of time, we will be anxious and short tempered and prone to make mistakes.  We all have deadlines at work but when we work we need to be engaged, not concerned about external things but present to what we are doing.  Then we will be more successful, less irritable, and less prone to anger.  Besides, the past is in the past, the future is in the future, and the present is always slipping into the past.  So don't be concerned so much with clock time but enjoy the moment in what you are doing and you will have peace.
